I have a long history in education with a range of experience across Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary schools. Working with rangatahi was the spark for my journey into counselling as I was interested in joining with people to explore the stories they have about their lives and relationships, their effects, their meanings and the context in which they have been formed and authored. Services The way I work as a counsellor is called Narrative Therapy. I like to think about our lives like a big bookshelf full of multiple stories. I see counseling as a collaborative partnership in which we will discuss what is most important to you. I hold the assumption that people hold many intentions, purposes, values, beliefs, hopes and desires that can reduce the impact of problems in their life. My job is to explore with you how a problem story has taken on meaning and how it is shaping your life and identity. I am a provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC ). In my practice, I am guided by the NZAC Code of Ethics . I have a Master of Counselling degree through Waikato University. OUR STORY CONNECTS Meet Our Founder At Story Connect, we believe in the power of storytelling to transform lives. Our founder, a dedicated provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, embarked on a journey that began in 1995 as a teacher working with teenagers. With a Master's degree in counseling, the transition to becoming a school guidance counselor marked the evolution of a passion for helping others through narrative therapy.
